Yes. Partner changes are allowed up to 2 hours before the tournament start time and must be updated in the Beach Volleyball App.

Yes. Refunds are available with at least 72 hours’ notice prior to the tournament start time. Refund requests must be submitted through the Beach Volleyball App or emailed to noattitudesbvb@gmail.com.

All court assignments, match times, and live updates will be posted in the Beach Volleyball App. Players are responsible for checking the app throughout the event for updates.

Annual Coed Century
Once a year, No Attitudes hosts our Coed Century division—a fun twist on coed competition where the combined age of the two players must total at least 100 years.

Division availability may vary by tournament based on registration numbers and event format.

Choosing the right division helps keep No Attitudes tournaments fun, competitive, and fair for everyone. When registering, please consider both partners’ experience and overall level of play.

Novice
Best for newer or recreational players who are still developing their beach volleyball skills, consistency, strategy, and court awareness. If you’re relatively new to tournament play or still learning the beach game, Novice is probably the right place to start.

Intermediate
Designed for experienced players who have developed solid fundamentals, can consistently control the ball, understand beach strategy, and are comfortable competing in tournaments. Intermediate players are competitive but generally have not yet reached the level of established Advanced/CBVA-rated players.

Advanced
Intended for highly experienced and competitive players. We generally consider CBVA-rated players to be Advanced, as well as players who have previously won a No Attitudes Intermediate division event or have comparable competitive experience.

What if partners are at different skill levels?
We know partners don’t always play at the same level! A more experienced player may team up with an Intermediate or Novice player and register in the division that best fits their team. However, the more experienced player is expected to play to the level and spirit of the division they are registered in. The goal is to create competitive, enjoyable matches for everyone—not to overpower players in a lower division.

At No Attitudes, we want everyone to have a great day on the sand. Sandbagging at No Attitudes isn’t cool. We reserve the right to move teams to a more appropriate division when necessary to keep competition fair, balanced, and fun.

Tournament will include pool play grouped with 4-6 teams, followed by playoff rounds. Matches will be one game to 21 or 25 points (depending on number of teams in pools and division,) win by 2. All teams are guaranteed multiple matches.

Yes. No Attitudes tournaments are primarily self-officiated. When a team is not playing, non-playing teams may be assigned to referee matches to help keep the tournament running smoothly.

All players are expected to call their own violations honestly and respectfully. Good sportsmanship is essential — competitive play is encouraged, but attitudes are not.

If a dispute arises:

• The referee’s decision is final when a referee is assigned.

• If no referee is present, tournament staff may be consulted, and their decision will be final.

What to Bring

What should players bring?
Participants are responsible for bringing their own equipment and supplies. We recommend coming prepared with:

• Beach volleyballs

• Ball pump

• Food and snacks

• Water and hydration

• Personal first aid kit

• Sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses

• Towel or chair

Is there a lunch break?
There is no official lunch break during the tournament. Matches run continuously throughout the day.

Players are strongly encouraged to bring their own food to stay fueled and avoid missing matches. While there are restaurants, a mini market, and food vendors nearby, leaving the beach is done at your own risk and may result in missed play.

Yes! Spectators are welcome to watch and cheer.

The tournament is weather-permitting. Any delays or changes will be communicated through the Beach Volleyball App and social media.

No. Pets are not allowed on the beach at Main Beach per City of Santa Cruz regulations. Please leave pets at home to avoid citations or removal from the beach.

Parking near Main Beach is metered and strictly enforced. Players and spectators should plan accordingly.

• Metered street parking is available close to the beach.

• Free parking can be found approximately 10 minutes away on Washington Street.

• Nearby public parking lots are available and typically cost $5–$10 per day.

We recommend allowing extra time for parking and walking to the courts so you’re checked in, warmed up, and ready to play at match start time.
